Storybook’s Silverbell

Silverbell was born as an adorable singleton. Her roaning was so heavy that she looked like she was silver in color! In this picture, she is weeks old. As she’s matured, she has lost much of her roaning overcoat, and is a solid chocolate color– a mini-me of her mom, Storybook’s Chocolate Kiss.

We are excited to freshen this girl in 2024 for 2025 kids!

Silverbell Growing Up

Silverbell’s Registration

Silverbell’s Dam Line

Silverbell’s Dam

Storybook’s Chocolate Kiss (born on Valentine’s Day) is a gorgeous, solid chocolate doe with blue eyes and looooong ears. Her daughter got her ears, but has brown eyes.

Kissy had a very nice FF udder (see it here). We didn’t get to put her on milk test before we sadly moved her on while retaining Silverbell and Kissy’s littermate sister, Valentine, due to a necessary herd reduction, where tough choices need to be made!

Silverbell’s Dam’s Dam: Maternal Granddam

Hurlburt Farm’s Buttercup 2*P is the first doe I ever bought, and has been foundational in our herd. Half of the does that we’ve kept have come from her progeny! Her dam and her daughters have milk stars!

You can see pictures of Buttercup’s udder here. Buttercup had a mouth injury in 2023 that forced her retirement, but she remains a sweet friend here on our farm.

Silverbell’s Dam’s Sire: Maternal Granddam

Echo Hills Sparrow *P was a beautiful doe who gave us many foundational doelings while here. She was sweet and gave us lots and lots of milk!

You can see udder pictures here.

Silverbell’s Sire Line

Silverbell’s Sire

Mosaic’s Mahogany Obsidian *B came to us via Michigan. We love his powerhouse milking genes and his solid conformation. This purebred boy is wide, deep, and long, with great breed character! He gave us two keeper doelings in 2023 (Silverbell and Primrose). We’ll be eager to freshen them in 2024 for 2025 kids.

Silverbell’s Paternal Granddam

Blackberry’s BV Pure Black Obsidian 2*P (Sin) VMCH

Courtney DuCharme writes: “Sin has placed well in virtual and live shows- Her best placing was BIS in a live show (only 8 there). Her daughter has gone on to place well in virtual shows so far as well (daughter hasn’t done live shows).”

Sin was an MDGA Top 10 winner 2021: #7 in Butter Fat Weight and #4 in Butterfat Percentage

Silverbell’s Great Granddam

Snowflake Obsidian *P

Snowflake Obsidian, in 2020, on the MDGA 1-day milk test Top 10 list, Snow placed #3 in Total Pounds, #5 in BF wt, and #7 in BF %.
