Herdsire Quality Bucklings

Please see linked sire/dam names for udder pictures/information. Video of all kids is available for serious buyers.

Storybook’s Black Thorn

Black Thorn was born to second freshener Storybook’s Briar Rose, and sired by Mosaic’s Mahogany Obsidian *B. Rosie has a gorgeous udder, but kidding late in the season, she wasn’t on test in 2023. In 2024, she miscarried twin boys. Black Thorn was born on June 4, 2023. He has a lot of ear control, so while his ears are long, he may end up being classified as American rather than Purebred. F6: $495

Storybook’s Timothy

Timothy was born on February 5th, 2024, the second of our kid crop for this year. He is VERY nice, and he comes from some very nice milk lines as well. His sire is Storybook’s Buckeye *B, and Buckeye’s dam is one of our best does: JC’s Bluebelle 3*P. JC’s Penelope is Timothy’s dam. She has a very lovely, correct, and productive udder. Due to JC’s moving, we obtained her, but couldn’t put her on test last year (as we weren’t testing). We hope and expect that she will get her milk star this year. Timothy is available after April 15th and will be wethered this week unless he is snapped up. He is F5: a steal at $400.

Storybook’s Toblerone *B

This handsome Swiss-maraked boy is out of our current best milker, JC’s Snowdrop 3*P, and sired by Mosaic’s Mahogany Obsidian (Sid)*B. In our March milk test, Snowdrop — 24 days fresh — gave over a gallon of milk. Her udder is beautiful: she is 5 years old, but it is high, tight, and productive. Toby is F5. $550.

This is Snowdrop’s udder. She is five years old and it is holding up beautifully. It is high, tight, and productive with beautiful teat placement

She gave birth to quads this year: three boys and a girl (retained) and gave 8.5# at just over two weeks fresh during our March milk test.

Hawthorne — and Toby and Cocoa Bean below — are her three sons this year.

Storybook’s Cocoa Bean

Cocoa Bean is one of my favorite kids born this year. He has the sweetest disposition and is a cuddle bug. We’ve had to mess with him a lot because (despite us putting headgear on him numerous times) his right ear curves funny. Also, his left front leg has needed splinting but is fine now. All that aside, this boy has the same powerhouse genes as his brothers listed above, namely: he is out of our current best milker, JC’s Snowdrop 3*P, and sired by Mosaic’s Mahogany Obsidian (Sid)*B (see above for Snowdrop’s udder picture, or click on her name and Sid’s for udders behind them). In our March milk test, Snowdrop — 24 days fresh — gave over a gallon of milk. Her udder is beautiful: she is 5 years old, but it is high, tight, and productive. Cocoa Bean is F5. $450 because of his ear, which is NOT a genetic defect.

Storybook’s Whiskey Sour

This handsome buckling, born on March 10, is out of second freshener Storybook’s Doux Champagne by Green Gables Amazing Asteroid *B. We expect Champagne to her her milk star this year, as she would have done so last year but for the fact that we took the year off from milk testing. (See her udder pictures on her page here.) If she does gain her star, she will be a 2*P. Champagne’s dam has her milk star; indeed, was a MDGA Top Ten milker. Whiskey, an F7, and would then become a *B as well. $500.

Whiskey Sour

Second freshener Champagne is well on track to earn her milk star this year. (She would have done so last year, but we had mishaps and did not test.)

Her udder is high and tight and productive. Her dam, Udderly Precious Mimz the Word *P was an MDGA Top Ten milker. She ranked 7th nationally for milk weight, and 10th in butterfat weight. Mimzie was 5 years old that year. Since then, we have chosen to milk her through one year, and she milked strongly for over a year. We only dried her up to be able to breed her again, and she gave us Storybook’s Brillig. Last year, she was retired. We are so glad to have her daughters and granddaughters in our herd!

Storybook’s Shoo Fly Pie *B

This nice boy, born March 11, has an outstanding milk heritage. He is out of Wonderful Farm SG Royal Candy *P, sired by Storybook’s Buckeye *B. Candy has a very nice extended fore udder, and Buckeye was sired by Green Gables E Asher *B and out of JC’s Bluebelle 3*P. Shoo Fly Pie is polled, and is a *B. He is F2. $550.

Wonderful Farm’s SG Royal Candy *P is one of our best milkers. Her udder, at 8 years old, is still going strong! She has a very nice extended foreudder, which we find very valuable in our herd. She has given us two daughters in three years, and we have retained them both: Storybook’s Twix and Storybook’s Bit O’ Honey.

Shoo is an active boy and will definitely be ready to do his job this fall! Like his dam, he is polled. (You can see the udders behind him by clicking on the parents’ names above in his description.)

Storybook’s Chocolate Cosmos *B

This black Sundgau boy’s pedigree is loaded with MILK. He is out of JC’s Bluebelle 3*P by Green Gables Amazing Asteroid *B (Mazy). (Please click on the parents’ names to see udder pictures.) Mazy has put truly amazing breed character on his kids this year! Bluebelle’s udder is very, very nice. She has a lovely foreudder, great attachments, wonderful teat placement, and is very productive. She had two outstanding boys this year, born on March 20, and this one was firstborn. He is F5. $550.

Bluebelle’s udder is wonderful: high, tight, with excellent teat placement and the best foreudder in our barn.

Storybook’s Khaya *B

This mahogany boy’s pedigree is loaded with MILK. He is out of JC’s Bluebelle 3*P by Green Gables Amazing Asteroid *B (Mazy). (Please click on these parents’ names to see udder pictures, and note Bluebelle’s above on his brother’s listing.) Mazy has put truly amazing breed character on his kids this year! As you can see above, his dam Bluebelle’s udder is very, very nice. She has a lovely foreudder, great attachments, wonderful teat placement, and is very productive. She had two outstanding boys this year, born on March 20, and this one was born second. He is chocolate colored, and long bodied with long ears! He is F5. $550.

Storybook’s Rocketman

Rocketman was born to Mosaic’s Tiny Dancer on March 23. He is sired by Mosaic’s Mahogany Obsidian *B (Sid). Sid comes from Blackberry lines, and so does Dancer. Rocketman is therefore linebred on the famous Blackberry’s Moon Man +*B. Dancer also has stellar Green Gables parentage. Rocketman is well put together and energetic, but not particularly photogenic. These still pics do not do him justice. Please request video if you are interested in his genetics. We believe that he will be a great herdsire someday. Rocketman is F7. $550.

We are LOVING the udder on this first freshener, Mosaic’s Tiny Dancer! This is a 12-hour separation, about three weeks fresh. She has a high, tight udder with good teat placements and a strong medial. Her twins are FAT and I’m expecting her butterfat to be high.

I’m so eager to see this girl mature. She is from excellent milk lines: a combination of Blackberry and Green Gables, mostly. See more about her HERE. We can’t wait to milk her on test in about two weeks.

Wethers

These are all young bucklings who will be wethered after they are weaned, at about 10-12 weeks old. Typically, they are offspring of first fresheners who we do not know enough about to recommend their boys as breeding bucks. They make wonderful pets, or brush clearers, or companions to other goats or horses. $150 apiece; discount for multiple purchases.

Storybook’s Fluffernutter

Fluffernutter was born on March 2, 2024 to first freshener JC’s Biscotti and Green Gables Amazing Asteroid *B. We have Biscotti’s dam (who is on track to get her milk star this year) and Biscotti’s littermate sisters have done a phenomenal job on the stand. We are offering Fluffernutter as a wether as well because we don’t really know what Biscotti will do on the stand. Sold as a wether. $150.

Fluffernutter

Storybook’s Prince Edward

This beautiful boy was born to Hurlburt Farms Grand Duchess. She’s a first freshener and is small. He was a big boy for her to birth, but she carried the day and he is a stunner! Her udder is nicely shaped, but not high in production at this time. $150.

Storybook’s Roland

Roland is out of Storybook’s Annette by Blackberry’s BQ Once in a Blue Moon. Annette’s dam Gingertop Farm’s Giselle *P has been an MDGA Top 10 doe in several categories, so his bloodline’s are top notch. Roland was born on June 10, 2023, but has always been on the small side and we don’t think he’s up to the job of herdsire. Sold as a wether: $150.

Doelings and Juvenile Does

We were blessed with quite a few doelings this year, and in deciding to keep some, we are parting with some of our yearling “keepers” from last year. ! It’s my joy to share those below with you (though I wish that I could keep them all!).

Storybook’s Chloe

This is her baby shot. I’ll get a new one up soon. We’ve only just decided to shar her.

Chloe is a wonderfully energic doeling, with personality plus, who loves people. She is out of JC’s Penelope (who is on track for her milk star this year) and Storybook’s Buckeye *B.

Chloe loves the bottle and can go anytime to someone who will give her two feedings a day.

Chloe is F5: $600

Storybook’s Creamy E’Claire

Claire is a dear, sweet girl. We had planned to retain her, but… not enough room. She will make someone an excellent milker!

This is her baby picture. I will get a new one up soon. She is 10 weeks old (on April 19) and will be ready to leave anytime if bottle fed; if not, she will be ready to leave in mid-May.

She is out of JC’s Biscotti by Green Gables AC Amazing Asteroid *B, whose dam peaked at 14# on test! (You can see udder pictures and pedigrees by clicking on these two parents’ names.)

Claire is F5: $600.

Storybook’s Sweet Pea

Sweet Pea is a singleton doeling with LONG ears and wonderful breed character. Her dam is first-freshener Storybook’s Valentine, and her sire is Green Gables AC Amazing Asteroid *B. This little girl’s milk heritage is very strong; her dam is going well on the stand, but space is tight and we are needing to move some of our better animals along to make room for new arrivals (which is SO hard!). We are moving Valentine on and our ideal situation would be for dam and daughter to go to the same new farm, since Valentine is tightly bonded with her girl. We’ll offer a discount if you do purchase doe and her doeling at the same time. IF they got together, they can go anytime. If they are separated, this girl will be ready the end of May. (To see Valentine’s listing, click HERE.) Sweet Pea is F6 (purebred). $575.

Storybook’s Louise

Louise was born on 3/28/24 to Storybook’s Marguerite and Green Gables AC Amazing Asteroid *B. She is blue eyed and may be polled (it’s a bit early to tell conclusively as I write this). We had thought to sell Marguerite last year as we were making deep herd cuts, but she had rejected her singleton doeling and we didn’t want to hand someone else a problem. This year, Marguerite has caught the vision for motherhood; she will hardly leave her kid even to eat! For this reason, she is back up for sale, and we would love to see this dam/daughter pair go together, and offer a small discount if they go to the same farm. Please click on Marguerite’s and Mazy’s pages linked above to their names to see the udders behind this little girl. F3, blue eyed and possibly polled: $575.

2023 Juvenile Does

We have decided to share one of our keeper doelings from last kidding season because (sadly) I can’t keep them and keep any from this 2024 season. We are also seeking to reduce our overall herd by 1/3. Ouch!

All of these yearling does have excellent bloodlines and milky heritages, and I hate to see any of them go, but I’m glad that they will bless someone else’s farm. Video and updated pictures are available for all of these girls for serious buyers. They will be able to be bred this fall, in 2024, for 2025 kids.

Storybook’s Champagne Bubbles

This is Bubbles at about six months old. We need to update, but she’s a beautiful girl. I wasn’t planning to share her, but we have to make room for this year’s kids, and her dam, Doux Champagne, had a daughter this year as well. We have to make choices. You can see Bubbles’ registration and other details on her page HERE.

Bubbles is lightly moonspotted. She is out of Storybook’s Doux Champagne (click on her name for udder pictures) who will most likely get her milk star this year, and sired by Storybook’s Nonpareil.

Bubbles is F7. $600.00

Storybook’s Suzette

Suzette is out of one of our favorite does, Storybook’s Annette (click on her name to see her udder pictures). Suzette was sired by Blackberry’s BQ Once in a Blue Moon. She has very milky genes! Annette had another daughter this year who fits better into our overall breeding program, so we are retaining her and sharing Suzette. Her page is HERE.

We have updated pictures and video for serious buyers. This picture is of Suzette at about six months old.

Suzette is F2. $500.

Storybook’s Silverbell

This girl has a HUGE piece of our hearts and it’s really hard to share her. I parted last year with her dam, Storybook’s Chocolate Kiss, very reluctantly, and parting with her one kid (sired by Mosaic’s Mahogany Obsidian *B) is really not easy. This girl will need to go to a very special farm!

Please see her page HERE for details on her sire and pictures of her growing up. In this picture, she’s about 6 months old. More pictures and video are available on request.

Silverbell is F6 and registered purebred. $575.

We may be offering one or two more 2023 girls… we are right now watching this year’s kid crop unfold before making final decisions, but we know that either last year’s or this year’s “keepers” must be shared.

TO SEE OUR “ADULTS TO SHARE” PAGE, CLICK HERE. WE HAVE DOES IN MILK, DRY DOES, AND BUCKS TO SHARE!
