Storybook’s Rocket Man (F7)

Storybook’s Rocket Man was born on 3/23/24. He is about 13 months old in this picture, and looking very handsome. He’s broad and deep like his sire, Mosaic’s Mahogany Obsidian *B.

We are super excited about him because he’s line bred on top Blackberry lines. Read more below!

Rocket Man’s Dam Line

Mosaic’s Tiny Dancer is a lovely, sweet and quiet feminine doe. This is her FF udder, which was lovely and productive. She has great attachments and a strong medial, and the udder is nice and high. She had boy/girl twins in 2024 and nursed them flawlessly, but we had a severe drought and some of our pastured does did not make their milk stars as FFs. We hope for better things this year, and so far, she’s on track, again nursing twins, both boys.

Dancer’s Dam: Blackberry’s BM Belle of the Ball

Courtney DuCharm writes of her: “[Belle] freshened with a STELLAR udder!! As did her twin Spacey! I ended up picking [Belle] off of favorite personality of the two and better orifice size (stronger milk streams) [Belle] has a very nice high, wide, & tight udder with excellent attachments. She could have a stronger medial attachment, so we will be careful to take her to boys that may help out there [which she did in Dancer’s case]. She has good orifices and strong milk streams so she milks out quickly!!”

Sadly, Belle was lost from complications during her second kidding.

Belle’s Sire: VMCH Blackberry’s Moon Man +*B

Moon Man is a legend in his own time. He is a champion, and has sired so MANY show winners and productive does.

This is Moon Man’s dam: Paradise Spirit *P. She is Dancer’s maternal Great Grand Dam

Dancer’s Sire Line

Courtney DuCharm writes of him: “He comes from a very dairy line of Mini Nubians whose breeder [Eliya Elmquist] bases her line off of their milk production. Hawkeye’s dam does have her milk star(3*P), as does her dam (2*P), and his sire’s dam (*P).

Hawkeye’s dam was in MDGA’s 2018 top 5 for “Lbs. of Fat”(she was #5).”

Rocket Man’s Sire Line

This is Mosaic’s Mahogany Obsidian *B. He has a star-studded pedigree, and you can see more of it on his page by clicking on his name. Below are a few highlight udders.

This is “Sin” VMCH Blackberry’s BV Pure Black Obsidian 2*P (Sin).

Sin was an MDGA Top 10 winner 2021: #7 in Butter Fat Weight and #4 in Butterfat Percentage.

See more: Sin’s udder and also the Blackberry heritage that Obsidian brought to our herd by clicking here. A few of the outstanding udders are pictured below as well.

This is Sin’s dam’s udder. She is Blackberry’s Snowflake Obsidian, Sin’s dam.

Snowflake’s sire is VMCH Blackberry’s Moon Man +*B.

Thus, Rocket Man is line bred on Moon Man (both sides of his pedigree).

This is Sin’s granddam’s udder. She is Blackberry’s Seagal.

Rocket Man’s Kids at Storybook Farm

We expect that he will sire several litters in 2025.
